Shashank M. Sathe, Ex. Joint Secretary to Government of Maharashtra is Director of NML MILS.

With over 30 years of experience in various Government sectors, including Co-operation, Public Works, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Labour, Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission, Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, he has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of governance and administration.

He was responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs that support the Govement's objectives and regulatory functions. His work involves providing strategic guidance and advice to senior management on key issues, managing the department's budget and resources, leading and supervising staff to ensure they meet their targets and objectives, developing and implementing new welfare programs for construction workers and labourers and to ensure smooth functioning of administrative machinery.

As Director of institute, he has revised syllabus under New Education Policy, 2020 with new title of Post-Graduate Degree as “Human Capital Management and Employee Relations”. He has upgraded institute in many aspects keeping in view overall development of students as per industry requirements. This is reflected in placements offered to the students by various companies.

His educational qualifications are B.E.(Mech) and M.B.A.(Finance). He holds Nagpur University's Color in Chess and is Internationally Rated Chess player.

Director's Message

It gives me great pleasure to provide a brief overview of the Master of Human Capital Management and Employee Relations course to students who want to get admission to the institute and are aspiring to a professional career.

The Master of Human Capital Management and Employee Relations course focuses on domain of ‘Human’ contribution to organizational prosperity and recognition of employee participation providing value add to stakeholders. It provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex dynamics of the world of work and business. The curriculum has been designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing business environment.

‘Human Capital’, possess skills and competencies which collectively aggregate to what is known as organizational capabilities. Alike Capital Investment in technology, Human Capital requires investment to make it contemporary. It is an intangible asset, but creates value through throughput management.

The course covers a range of subjects that are essential for developing a deep understanding of the various aspects of business. Students will have the opportunity to delve into subjects like Human Capital Management, Business Management Science, Industrial Psychology and Industrial Sociology that lays the foundation for Organizational Growth. Labour Economics, Industrial and Managerial Economics, provide a strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of the economy of business. Subjects like Business Orientation, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance exposes student nuances of business and responsibility towards society. Research Methodology equips students with the skills necessary to conduct rigorous research and data analysis. In addition, the subjects like Labour Legislation will give students an understanding of the legal frameworks and regulations that govern the world of work.

Employee Relations, Employee Wellbeing, Trade Union Movement, provide insights into the practical aspects of working and the interactions within institutions and enable students to understand the intricacies of behavioral aspects and managing and leading teams in the workplace.

Throughout the two years, students will have the opportunity to undertake fieldwork and interact with various Government bodies and companies, which provides hands-on experience in applying the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom to real-world situations. This practical experience is invaluable for fostering an entrepreneurial attitude. The institute also conducts special sessions on weekdays where experts from industries provide insights into businesses and train and develop students for professional careers. The institute also provides a mentoring programme to guide students' personal and professional development.

The curriculum’s structured integration of 18 weeks of hands-on training across Concurrent (4 weeks), Summer (8 weeks) and Block (6 weeks) placements, focused on live projects in industries, is designed to provide students with a holistic experience. This approach not only cultivates research capabilities but also instills the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenario, preparing students for a seamless transition into the professional landscape.

In conclusion, the Master of Human Capital and Employee Relations course is designed to provide students with a deep and comprehensive understanding of the world of work. The faculty is dedicated to providing students with an enriching and supportive learning environment that will enable them to reach their full potential.
